Flag Football

The Great Valley Football League is a competitive football program that teaches the fundamentals of the game while promoting teamwork and camaraderie among our players. Our flag program is for children in grades K -1,  and is run internally with all teams playing each other.

Our programs are open to all students in and around the Great Valley School District. Students from private schools and home-schooled students are also invited to join the Great Valley Junior Patriots!

Commitment

Football is considered one of the most rewarding, yet demanding of all little league sports. Therefore, it requires a strong commitment to the program. The success of the program is driven by the level of support delivered by our coaches, players, parents, volunteers and the community.

As a Great Valley Junior Patriot, your child will learn the following:

  • the basic rules of football
  • the importance of good sportsmanship
  • the rewards of hard work
  • the benefits of being on a team.
Parent Commitment:
GVFL is 100% run by volunteers. As parents, you will be asked and expected to volunteer throughout the season.

Practice & Games

Practice is held one night per week on Thursdays behind the GVBL Center located at 19 N. Bacton Hill Rd., Malvern.

The GVFL flag season begins in early September and consists of eight games. Flag games are Sunday mornings. Games are played at the GVBL Center or the Great Valley High School stadium. Playing time is one-hour with two halves and a 5-minute halftime.

 Uniforms and Equipment

GVFL will provide your child with a game jersey, flag belt and flags. Players should wear black shorts or sweatpants. You will need to provide a colored mouthpiece (not clear) and sneakers or cleats (molded rubber).
