Sophia Geibel
Sophia is a Senior at Great Valley High School and has taken on the role of High School Intern through the Great Valley School District’s Work Release Program. Sophia is tasked with overseeing GVCO’s Caring Hands Program and Internship Program and working with various platforms that all programs utilize.

Sophia thought working with GVCO would be an incredible way to give back to the GV Community while helping her discover what she would like to study in college. When Sophia is not focusing on her studies, her other school activities include NHS and the Spanish Honor Society and is a member of the school tennis and lacrosse team. Sophia will attend Franklin & Marshall College in the Fall and will be a member of their Lacrosse team.
The GVSD Work Release program is an option for twelfth grade students who have met most of their graduation requirements and will be eligible for a diploma if they attend school part of the day. Students accepted for Work Release are subject to the rules and regulations established by state and local agencies as well as Great Valley High School. Shriya Rajagopalan
Shriya Shriya is a Junior at Great Valley High School. She volunteers for GVCO’s Caring Hands and the nonprofit Charity Crossing. She wanted to be a part of GVCO’s High School Internship program to get more involved with the Great Valley Community while gaining experience that will prepare her for the future.
Shriya believes that her role as co-publisher for Charity Crossing’s newsletter has strengthened her organizational skills by dealing with deadlines and utilizing various platforms to keep things in check. Her interpersonal skills allow her to communicate effectively with other volunteers to produce quality newsletters.

When asked what the best thing about the Great Valley Community is, Shriya said: she appreciates the diversity of the community and their willingness to work together despite their differences.

Owen Li
Owen is a Junior at Great Valley High School and is involved in the scouting program and with the East Whiteland Fire Department, as well as many other volunteer opportunities. As a former participant of GVBL & GVCO, Owen wanted to be a part of GVCO’s Highschool Internship program to give back to the community and assist others in making a positive change in the community.
Owen believes that his strong organizational skills have helped him with daily school activities meeting all deadlines, giving him a feeling of accomplishment, and carrying over to his work with the Scouts. His role as Den Chief allows him to run scout meetings and lead younger scouts in activities where he needs to be organized. In turn, these activities helped to strengthen his interpersonal skills working with his peers and scout leaders.

When asked what the best thing about the Great Valley Community is, Owen believes it comes from promoting diversity within the community. As the son of Chinese immigrants Owen feels that the Great Valley community does an excellent job of acknowledging and accepting his culture – not only his but also cultures and races from all around the world.

Maegan Sojan
Maegan is a Junior at Great Valley High School and volunteers with GVCO's Caring Hands Foundation Challenger Gym, Phoenixville Women's Outreach, and GAB. Maegan believes volunteering has allowed her to forge many new connections with adults and students her age. She is interested in the internship position as a way for her to give back to the community and hopes that she can make a difference for kids who may be looking for a way to get involved and help them feel welcome, just like she did when she discovered GVCO.
Maegan's volunteer experiences have allowed her to enhance her organizational and computer skills and have helped her become more vocal and build connections with people with unique backgrounds.

When asked what the best thing about the Great Valley Community is, Maegan said: Many people in the Great Valley community are welcoming and accepting. When she moved to Charlestown in fourth grade, she was shy, reserved, and unsure about making new friends, but there were a lot of opportunities to meet new people, and she had never felt more welcome than in Great Valley.

Laura Lum
Laura is a Senior at Great Valley High School and is a member of the Cross Country Team and Basketball Team; she works on the yearbook and is also a member of the National Honor Society. Laura wanted to be a part of GVCO’s High School Internship program to give back to her community. Growing up, Laura participated in GVBL, GV Sideline Cheer, and the volleyball clinics, and she felt this would be a way to give back to the organization that did a lot for her.
Laura believes her communication skills helped her in her role as Captain of the Great Valley Girls’ basketball team, allowing her to connect with coaches and teammates easily. She attributes her success in school and extracurricular activities to her organizational skills, enabling her to balance her classes, volunteer work, and pursue two sports.

When asked what the best thing about the Great Valley Community is, Laura said: Parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, and students all come together to support the community, whether that is through a GVBL game or the annual action event. I and many others have built strong friendships through the vast events GVCO has hosted. Still, to this day, I am close with the girls on my first GVBL basketball team, which exhibits the long-lasting effect the GV community has had.

Anushka Tejeswi
Anushka is a Junior at Great Valley High School and a member of the Student Council. She wanted to be a part of GVCO’s High School Internship program to get more involved with the Great Valley Community and lend her skills to GVCO to help make a difference in the area where she grew up.
For the past two years, Anushka has volunteered with Asha-Jyothi, a nonprofit organization that provides aid to underprivileged people in terms of healthcare and education. She has helped to organize their 5K run which requires a lot of teamwork and organization; this task has strengthened her interpersonal and organizational skills, which she feels have prepared her for all the responsibilities associated with being part of the GVCO internship program.

When asked what is the best thing about the Great Valley Community, Anushka said:
I moved to the Great Valley School District in second grade. I admire how everyone is dedicated to this community and does whatever they can to help out. I hope to do this as well by being part of the GVCO.

Brennan Del Rossi
Brennan is a Senior at Great Valley High School and is a member of the Soccer Team and GVCO’s Caring Hands. He wanted to be a part of GVCO’s High School Internship program to experience how a business is run and what makes a successful business, and get even more involved in the community. Brennan is a team player and active listener with a positive attitude. He feels that these skills, along with being dependable and able to work well with others, have prepared him for all the responsibilities associated with being part of the GVCO internship program.
When asked what the best thing about the Great Valley Community is, Brennan said: I have lived in Great Valley my whole school life and love the community. I participated in the Flag football program, then moved on to recreational soccer, and have played in GVBL since first grade. I currently play soccer for GVHS. I can see what GVCO has done for the community and its members. I appreciate the opportunities it provides children with a fun, organized youth sports experience with opportunities for all to participate.

Erin Winters
Erin is a Senior at Great Valley High School. Erin wanted to be a part of the High School Internship program because she wanted to find a way to give back to the community. She felt that her organizational and planning skills would be an asset to the organization and a way for her to help others.
In Eighth grade, Erin started a photography club that met every week. Erin recruited members, communicated objectives and goals for the club and organize each meeting. With the support of Mr. Stickley and other teachers, Erin used her interpersonal and organizational skills to keep the club running.

When asked what is the best thing about the Great Valley Community, Erin said:
I moved to the Great Valley School District in third grade, and after being here for about eight years I can honestly say the people that I meet are what I like best about the Great Valley community. The teachers and staff members in the district are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure I feel comfortable and safe. Even my peers are accepting and loving to me, it was very easy for me to make friends and flourish at Great Valley. I hope this opportunity will allow me to help others joining or already in the district to feel the same way.

Niharika Roy
Niharika is a Senior at Great Valley High School and is a member of the Model United Nations Club, Drama Guild, and Swim Team. She wanted to be a part of GVCO’s High School Internship Program after participating in the badminton and volleyball camps held at GVCO. She is looking forward to working with others in the Internship Program and those participating in other GVCO programming as well because she feels this would help her better understand some of the current issues students face today.

Niharika believes she has benefitted by being involved with many activities. She has learned to work with others toward a common goal, as well as enhancing her research and organizational skills.
When asked what is the best thing about the Great Valley Community, Niharika said that when she moved here in 8th grade, she was nervous about coming to a new school but has found everyone extremely welcoming. She would like to give back to the community as a way to say thank you to a community that has been so accepting.

Raghav Thangada
Raghav is a Senior at Great Valley High School. He wanted to participate in the Internship Program to develop his leadership skills while being part of a team. He has strong organization skills that not only benefit him in the classroom but also at home when he is tasked with kitchen duty.
When asked what is the best thing about the Great Valley Community, Raghav said: The best thing about Great Valley is the diversity. The level of acceptance by my peers and teachers allows for a safe learning environment that has helped me to flourish to the best of my ability. I treasure the level of acceptance I have received.

Vyoma Samant
Vyoma is a Senior at Great Valley High School. Vyoma wanted to be a part of the High School Internship program because she thought it would be a good fit for her. She is highly motivated, works well with others, and believes in giving back to her local community.
Over the last few years, Vyoma has shared her time and talent to help design curriculum for a Montessori preschool, provided one-on-one tutoring, and taught Kathak - a North Indian Classical dance form. She credits her strong interpersonal and organizational skills to her success.
When asked what is the best thing about the Great Valley Community, Vyoma said: she likes how the Great Valley Community provides many opportunities for its youth to explore a wide range of activities in and out of school. She prides herself on being part of a caring and proactive community.
