Throughout the pandemic, GVCO Caring Hands has made a notable effort to contribute to our local community and the organizations who support those in need. For March, we connected with Home of the Sparrow and donated $1,000 towards their mission to provide housing, education and support for homeless women and children in Chester County.

Visit HomeOfTheSparrow.org for more information about their mission.

Stong Plumbing in Malvern partnered with GVCO and donated $500 in February 2021 to GVCO Caring Hands for additional Giant gift cards for our local seniors. It is wonderful to see the local businesses, along with other community donors, giving back to the community and helping the GVCO Caring Hands student volunteers help more of our neighbors in need. If you are aware of any seniors in the Great Valley community currently facing difficulties putting food on their tables, please contact Caring Hands at [email protected]

GVCO Caring Hands and Surrey Services for Seniors - great partnership!

GVCO Caring Hands and Surrey Services for Seniors combined their resources to locate and provide GIANT Food gift cards to seniors in need in our Great Valley Community. Through fund raising efforts, Caring Hands had the gift cards and Surrey Services network had the connections to the people in need. We look forward to continuing to work with Surrey to help seniors in our community.

Caring Hands leadership, Caroline Getz and Julia Dill, along with CH Advisory Board member, Sandy Louderback, delivered the gift cards to Mary Galligan at Surrey.

The GIANT Company donated $1,000 in gift cards in support of GVCO Caring Hands initiatives to support families in our community. Regarding GIANT's sponsorship of GVCO, Christopher Brand, Director, Communications and Social Impact, stated "we are honored to support your organization and believe that the world is a better place when families come together and connect over a meal - whatever that may look like - because if families are strong, then communities are strong."

GVCO Caring Hands Teams Up with GVSD

GVCO Caring Hands Food Fund has raised $4,700 in funds to buy grocery gift cards for families in the Great Valley School District who need help feeding their families. Caring Hands has worked with Krista Russell at the Great Valley School District for several years. As a result, we were glad we could help when she reached out during this pandemic. Said Krista Russell, Social Worker, Great Valley School District: "For several years Caring Hands of GVCO has contributed generously to Great Valley students and families in need in a variety of ways. They donated thousands of dollars in gift cards for groceries and children’s holiday gifts and even helped families pay bills during especially difficult times. They have come through when it seemed all hope was lost. Caring Hands seems to always be there for the Great Valley community." Thank you for your support!

Headbands for Healthcare Personnel

The GVCO Caring Hands Program has been looking for ways to support the wonderful health care workers on the front lines of this pandemic. Recently we became aware that some of these brave people have experienced discomfort around their ears from wearing masks for long periods of time. Caring Hands has partnered with Strawberry Blonde Bands, a home business in Phoenixville, to provide colorful headbands, complete with two buttons, allowing medical staff to attach the mask straps away from their ears. The demand for these special headbands has been tremendous from hospitals and medical facilities; to date Caring Hands has delivered over 200 headbands under this effort, with another 100 in production.

Thank You to our health care personnel for their outstanding, caring service to the community! If you would like to donate to this initiative, go to GVCO Caring Hands Response Fund to help more of our first responders receive headbands to relieve stress on their ears and head.
