GVFL Sideline Cheer News and Updates

GV Sideline Cheer - November 7-8th

FLAG CHEERLEADING

This weekend, the Kindergarten and 1st grade cheerleaders wrapped up their season.  They performed twice during two different halftimes at the flag football games.  After the game, they cheered for the football players tug of war games.  During the little ceremony, Coach Livy announced each cheerleader’s name and they received their player cards.  They then created a tunnel for the football players to run through when they were announced.  What a great season!!

CHEER CLINICS

The last cheer clinic of the season was full of a lot of fun games and activities that helped the cheerleaders conditioned but also gave them an opportunity to finish the season on a good note.  Thank you to the volunteers who’ve helped us out this year!

FLAG CHEERLEADING

This weekend, the Kindergarten and 1st grade cheerleaders took pictures for their players cards and then changed into their Halloween costumes. They performed at half time in their adorable Halloween outfits. Also happy birthday to Coach Livy!!

The cheer clinic was cancelled this week due to rain.

FLAG CHEERLEADING

This weekend, the Kindergarten and 1st grade cheerleaders had a very cold morning cheering for the flag football games. That didn’t stop them from sharpening up their cheers and performing their half time routine!

CHEER CLINICS

The cheer clinic ended early this weekend due to rain coming in after warm ups. However, they did learn a new dance to the Wobble.

FLAG CHEERLEADING

This weekend the Kindergarten and 1st grade cheerleaders continued to welcome new athletes to the cheer squad to learn more cheers and have fun cheering for the flag football teams. They performed their usual halftime cheers, even though the weather was super cold! They just love their Coach Livy and Coach Alicia and everything they do for them!

CHEER CLINICS

This week in addition to learning cheers, the cheerleaders worked on their conditioning, their favorite planks, and broke into lines for bear crawls, hand stands and other jumps. Coach Abby, Coach Lexi and Coach Izzy worked with individual groups to sharpen their skills in a more focused, one on one level.

FLAG CHEERLEADING

This weekend the Flag cheer program is for cheerleaders in Kindergarten or 1st grade to learn GVFL cheers and jumps. They continued to learn cheers and performed their halftime show (posted on the Facebook page "Great Valley Junior Patriot Cheerleading"). Below we have a picture of our mini's and two of our flag "veterans" teaching the rest of the squad some cheers!

CHEER CLINICS

The cheer clinics are for the tackle cheerleaders (Grades 2-6) to continue to keep engaged in the GVCO cheer program.  Since there were no GVFL tackle football games this season, the clinics are focused on learning cheers, jumps, conditioning, etc.

The cheerleaders warmed up dancing to Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainer, continued learning new cheers and practicing ones they know, as well as great conditioning workouts.

GV Sideline Cheer - October 4th & 5th

FLAG CHEERLEADING

The Flag cheer program is for cheerleaders in Kindergarten or 1st grade to learn GVFL cheers and jumps. This weekend, each cheerleader received poms and a pink cheer shirt. They learned over six new cheers. During halftime of the flag football games, the cheerleaders went out on the field to show the fans what they learned by cheering to them and getting them excited for the remainder of the game.

The cheers being taught at the clinics are the same cheers that GVMS and GVHS learn for the high school football games.  Those cheerleaders moving up from flag cheer may find that new, and more difficult, motions are introduced in these cheer clinics. The clinics include conditioning for the athletes to help them work out the various muscles and stretch the parts of their bodies to help with jumps and stunting.  The athletes learn the various jumps in cheerleading including toe-touches, herkies, pikes and hurdlers. Though there is no stunting in the current season, it’s important for them to develop the skills necessary for future seasons.  All cheerleaders receive poms during the clinics.
