Sideline Cheer Program Info

Join a Great Valley Junior Patriots’ cheerleading squad and fall in love with this fun, popular sport. Our programs build self-confidence, teach sportsmanship and create lasting friendships among the athletes.

We provide athletic opportunities for beginners to experienced cheerleaders to learn cheers, chants, jumps and dances for:

  • Flag Football Cheerleading Squad for children in grades K - 1
  • Cheerleading Clinics for youth in grades 2 - 6

All students in the Great Valley school district, students from other public or private schools and home-schooled students are invited to join the Great Valley Junior Patriots!

Athlete Commitment:
Cheerleading requires a strong commitment to the program. Squads need every member present on a regular basis. The success of the program is driven by the level of support delivered by our coaches, players, parents, volunteers and the community.

As a Great Valley Junior Patriot Cheerleader, your child will:

  • Learn cheers, jumps, and dances
  • Build self-confidence through hard work and dedication
  • Enjoy being part of a close-knit team
  • Create new and lasting friendship

Child Safety is Our Priority:
All coaches, assistant coaches and any volunteers in direct contact with cheerleaders have completed a criminal background check and child abuse clearance. In addition, we have developed new COVID-19 protocols for prioritizing the health and safety of our community.

Cheer Squads:
To ensure a safe and positive environment, each cheerleader is placed in a division based on grade. All children who are registered before the deadline will make the squad.

Kindergarten-First Grade: Flag Squad

Cheerleaders will be split into two groups and you’ll be notified which squad upon sign-up. The schedule will coordinate with the GVFL Flag Football season. Game times will either be 8:30 – 9:30 am or 9:30 – 10:30 am on Saturdays for 8 weeks.

2nd Grade-6th Grade: Clinics

The Cheer Clinics will be for the Tackle Cheerleaders (Grades 2 – 6) to remain engaged in the GV Cheer program and be focused on learning cheers, jumps, conditioning etc. All activities will be socially distanced and there will be no stunting with these clinics this year.

If you have any questions, please contact our Cheer Director, Stef Robinson at [email protected].

Practice Policies:
For practices, all cheerleaders should wear a t-shirt or tank, athletic shorts and cheer sneakers (no running shoes). Pull hair back in a ponytail and remove all jewelry including post earrings. Please bring a water bottle labeled with your child's name.

Uniform and Equipment:
For the first Flag Football game, please have your cheerleader wear a pink t-shirt, black pants/shorts and (if possible) cheer shoes. Other sneakers can be worn if white cheer shoes are not available. An additional GVFL pink cheer shirt will be provided as well as poms early in the season. These will not need to be returned after the season is over. Please NO SHARING.

Practice & Games:
All Cheer games and practices will be held at the GVCO field located at 51 N. Bacton Hill Rd., Malvern Pa. Flag Cheer practices will be on Friday evenings and games will be on Saturday mornings. Cheer Clinics will meet on Sunday afternoons.
