Several parents have volunteered to organize the two teams and will be meeting with GVBL tournament team committee members to go over some of the initial set-up of the teams.

Those who participated in the March clinics will be receiving additional information in the coming weeks. Those who missed the clinics and would like some additional information, please reach out to [email protected].

The Storm are ICBA Division 2 Champions!

The Storm took the long and windy road up to Pennridge South Middle School on Saturday morning to take on Deep Run in the ICBA Division 2 championship game. Deep Run snuck out a 1-point win in the only regular season meeting between the two teams. In the ICBA semi-final the Storm avenged its only other loss on the regular season to Council Rock, also a 1-point game. In the championship, the Storm were not to be denied. Suffocating defense and some sharp shooting, including a 3-pointer by Kate Weikert gave the Storm an 11-3 lead after the first quarter. Maura Wiggers had some impactful assists early on for the team.

The second quarter saw Deep Run make a run of their own and close the gap to 20-13 at halftime. Coach Hall implored the team to stay the course and focus on the defensive end, which they did as they held Deep Run to ZERO points in the third quarter, extending the lead to 27-13. In that quarter, key steals by Gabby Kasser, Sarah Culbertson and Lauren Chain kept the Deep Run attack at bay. The team knew it was just 7 minutes away from its second ICBA championship and played smart, ball-control basketball throughout the fourth quarter. Lily Mattison, Madelyn Shaughnessy and Sophia Kauler came in to provide shut-down defense.

As the clocked ticked down to zero, the Storm secured a 31-16 victory. Ava Hall led the team with 15 points and 9 steals on the game, and was backed by Kate Weikert's 11 points and 4 rebounds. The Storm finish the ICBA campaign with a 12-2 record, both losses coming by one point each, and the margin of victory in the 12 wins was an AVERAGE of 14 points per game. Also contributing key players on the season were Maddie Walsh, Lauren Serpentine, Lily Lexer, Amelia Guenster and Emma Beck. The Storm now sports an overall record of 115-44 in the four years it has been together.

The Storm traveled up to State College for the Pennsylvania State Championships this past weekend. In game action, the Storm had an impressive win over Karns City where all players contributed to a sizable victory. Throughout the weekend, Kate Weikert and Lauren Chain led the team in minutes and points. More important was the team bonding that went on throughout, highlighted by a tour of the Bryce Jordan Arena. Storm player, Lily Lexer, has a cousin that plays for the Penn State Lady Lions. Makenna Marisa is the point guard for PSU and was 2nd in the Big 10 in scoring and 7th in the nation in scoring. More impressive was that she cheered on the Storm throughout the weekend and was incredibly accommodating of the team showing them the Lady Lions locker room and taking the team on the court. It was a fantastic weekend for the team, who now will focus on the ICBA championship game against Deep Run on Saturday.

The Hive competed this weekend in the Gold Division of the 5th Grade Girls State Championship!

The weekend featured an hard fought 11 point victory over great team from the Pittsburgh area - Chartiers Valley. In our second game the girls had a halftime lead over the #2 ranked team in the state only to succumb to their height down the stretch. The Hive fought hard the rest of the weekend but fell to the last two teams in heartbreaking fashion by 1 point in each contest to two very good teams.

All and all the girls held their own with the best teams in Pennsylvania. The coaches and parents are proud of their accomplishments this season.

The 7th Grade Boys Knights team wrapped up an amazing season by participating in the PA State Tournament this weekend. They played 4 games against teams from all over the state including one from Pittsburgh and another one from Altoona. The competition was tough, but they left with win and more importantly an incredible set of memories.

Check out their highlights video on YouTube.
