My name is Sophia Geibel and I am one of the interns for The Great Valley Community Organization this year. I am, however, the only intern that has taken advantage of the work release program offered at Great Valley and would love to promote what I do to younger students. The first three years of my high school career I decided to take numerous AP classes and had a heavy workload. I was also placed in a high-level math, allowing me to finish the required courses early in my high school career. With most of my credits completed, I was left with a small selection of courses that seemed beneficial for my intended major and interests.
After finding out about the work release program, I knew it was something that interested me. It took a lot of connecting and communicating to find GVCO as an option for my senior year. I was lucky enough to both discover and be given this opportunity. I have found this experience to be extremely beneficial to my development as I approach college. I have learned so much from being hands-on in a work environment every day. I have been taught how to manage and schedule efficiently and have worked with countless amounts of software. I have also been introduced to both the marketing and financial sides of a business. I have learned so much in a short period of time and I will value and carry this information with me for the rest of my time as both a student and an employee. I believe that the work release program is an amazing way to prepare for any future after high school. I have loved my experience and I hope that others can be introduced to the program and what it has to offer!
