YOUTH FOOTBALL & CHEERLEADING

The Great Valley Football League is an instructional youth football league for kids within the Great Valley School District ages 5 through 14 and includes cheerleading, flag and tackle football. The purpose of the program is to create a fun experience for the kids, playing and learning the game of football while competing with their peers from the surrounding community. IMPORTANT Please review all GVFL rules and policies.

GVFL Program Highlights
1.Divisions: 5 & 6 Year Olds – Flag Division
7 & 8 Year Olds – 80lb Football Weight Division JV
9 &10 Year Olds – 100lb Football Weight Division JV
11 & 12 Year Olds – 120lb Football Weight Division JV
All ages are as of 7/1/2011
2. Cheerleading Squads for all divisions ages 5 – 12. (Coaches Needed)
3. Parent Participation is mandatory. Sign- up sheets for each team will be coordinated through Team Parent. Jobs include cleanup crew, chain gang, play counter, half-time fruit, videographer, snack stand. You may also sign up for a committee – homecoming, concessions.
4. Minimum Play Rule is 10 plays a game. The best way to learn to play is to play. Typical game is 40 – 50 plays
5. All Equipment is provided by the league with the exception of mouthpiece, cleats, socks, cup, girdle w/ hip and butt pad. Cheer uniforms provided.
6. Players are taught Offense and Defense terminology, schemes and special teams fundamentals.
7. Practice fields – Bacton Hill Road behind GVBL or within the Great Valley School district.
8. Home games are held on Sundays with an 8 – 10 game schedule. Away games are determined by each team within the league.
9. Structured, fast moving practices to teach the game and have fun.
